Who we are

Valence is a web application that helps groups of people map and explore their shared values. It is operated by Renay Oshop doing business as Renay Oshop. By using Valence, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

Using Valence

• You must be at least 13 years old to use Valence.
• You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide — your name, email, and values.
• One account per person. You may not create accounts on behalf of others without their consent.
• You may not use Valence to harass, deceive, or harm other users.
• You may not attempt to access, scrape, or reverse-engineer any part of the service not intended for public use.

Groups

Any registered user may create a group for a one-time fee of $3 (USD). The group creator is responsible for inviting members and managing the group. Creating a group does not grant the creator access to other members' private reports — those are generated in each member's own browser and are never transmitted to the server.

Members join groups voluntarily using a group code. You may leave any group at any time from the group view. Leaving a group removes your profile from that group's web immediately.

The group creator may delete the group at any time. Deletion is permanent and immediately removes all membership records associated with that group from our servers. Members' individual Valence accounts and values profiles are not affected — only their participation in that specific group is removed. It is the creator's responsibility to notify members before deleting a group. Valence does not send automatic notifications on group deletion.

Your content

The values, intensities, and name you set in Valence remain yours. By entering them, you grant Valence a limited license to store and display them to the members of the groups you belong to — nothing more.

Your values are visible only to other members of groups you have joined. No one outside those groups — including other Valence users, the general public, or Valence itself — can see your values. Each group is fully isolated: members of one group cannot see your values in any other group you belong to.

We do not claim ownership of your values data, sell it, or use it for advertising or profiling outside of the product.

Payments

Group creation requires a one-time $3 payment processed by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. All payment data is handled by Lemon Squeezy under their own terms and privacy policy. Valence receives only a confirmation that payment succeeded. The $3 fee is per group, one time, with no subscription or renewal. See our Refund Policy for details on how to request a refund.

Availability

We aim to keep Valence running reliably, but we make no guarantee of uptime, data durability, or availability. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time. If we ever decide to shut down the service permanently, we will provide at least 30 days' notice by email so you can export your data.

Limitation of liability

Valence is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to data loss, service interruptions, or relational outcomes arising from values discussions your group may have.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Boulder County, Colorado.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If the changes are material, we'll update the date above. Continued use of Valence after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
